Clouds and trees

I went out this afternoon, but I didn't go into Vancouver. I managed to reserve the lens that I wanted for next Sunday over the phone. That made it easy. I reserved the Canon EF 100-400mm L series lens that I referred to in the previous post. While I was visiting the website, I noticed that they also rent a Canon 300mm f/2.8! What an awesome lens.

So instead of going to Vancouver, I just went over to Burnaby Lake. It was windy and cold, as it had been raining all night last night. This was the first break we've had from the rain for a while, so I thought I'd take the chance and get out there before it started again. I didn't take very many pictures before the rain started again though, so I packed up my gear and went grocery shopping instead.

Here's a couple photos that I shot today, both mono:

Yay! It's the weekend!

I don't have any really big plans this weekend. I'll probably go into Vancouver this afternoon and rent a nice, big lens for next weekend's big event, The 2004 Trees for Life 10k FunRun (see last year's photos here). I'll probably rent the Canon 100-400EF L IS lens if I can reserve one. I've tried one once, and I really liked it. If I can't find that one, my next choices would be the Canon EF 300mm f/2.8 L, or the good old Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L. It's always been one of my favorites. I'll know more about what's available later this afterlunch.

In other news, I've added a "Tip Jar" in the sidebar on the left. Don't worry, Life as Mark sees it, isn't destined to become a pay site. This is just like the tip jar at your favorite coffee shop. If you enjoy yourself here, then feel free to drop some bling-bling. It's all good!

Ok, I'm off to get on with the day!
Ciao!

Just a couple photos

This image with the posts in the water is from Barnet Beach in Burnaby. I was there last weekend.

And here's one from last year. It's a murder of crows. When I shot this photo, the crows were quite close to the lens, and the sun was nearly shinging right into the lens. I was tracking the crows as they flew by, and took several shots. I've looked at this photo many times, and I wish I could post it in it's full size, because the detail of the birds is awesome. I've cropped this one so that the closest birds will show some good detail (there are actually a lot more birds in the original uncropped image). I posted this one here before, but this is a better crop I think.

lots of crows

Check out the size of the bumper on this car!

Wow, you could put an extra row of seats back there!

Photos from the Langley Cruise-In Car Show

I sure do love ferrets!

That's me eating a freshly cooked mini doughnut

They were pretty good for the first 4 or 5, but after that they were gross.

some kids driving little racing carts

An RCMP officer ignoring my friend A.

I took a picture of her gun while she was busy ignoring A.

That's me trying to walk in a straight line whilst wearing drunk simulation goggles.

No, this isn't drunk, I proclaimed, this is more like mushrooms or LSD or something! (disclaimer: I have never done LSD or Mushrooms, Mmmkay?)

Of course.

There were many more car photos, but I don't want to bore you, so that's all for now. Thanks for everyone who takes the time to look at my Blog. Tell all your friends!

I had quite a busy weekend, and I've got some catching up to do. I went to the Langley Cruise-In car show and I was fortunate that it didn't rain. I took a lot of photos there, and I'm in the process of sorting them out on the computer. I met up with my parents, and then with some friends.

On Sunday I went over to Barnet Beach in Burnaby and shot some photos with my friend A. It was cloudy with the occasional sunny break, but the light was nice, so I shot some good photos. Nothing too special, just a few boats and things.

Today it rained like crazy at work. It was not fun at all. Those of you who know me, know I hate getting wet in the rain. The forcast for the week doesn't look good, so I'm probably going to go crazy. I need a vacation.

I got home from work today, checked my email, played around on the computer for a little while, then went to bed. I slept until about midnight. That's gonna mess me up, I know it. It must be the weather, it's depressing.
