Last Saturday
Last Saturday was the first sunny Saturday we've had here in about 2 months I think. I was eager to get out there with the camera, but I got delayed and I didn't get out until late in the afternoon. I went down to English Bay at about 4:30 and shot a few photos there. There were clouds on the horizon, so the sun was poking through in spots here and there.
I managed to get a shot of this gull while it flew through one of those sunlit areas. The background was dark, so it made for an interesting image:

another brilliant picture..so much is patience and timing..and being in the right place at the right time.
Ok listen: THAT is good photography. I wish I could do that. It's one of those things I've always wished I could do, but it's just that I don't understand the principles of light... and shadows... and focal points. So basicly, I have none of those photographic skills that might persuade me to spend a bunch of money on a good camera. Anyway, keep living out my dream! And I like your blog. It has character. Sorry, if that sounds like a general comment, but I really do mean it! Peace out.

Thank you Toaster Tester, that's one of the greatest compliments I've had! Honestly though, photography is not as difficult as it may seem. If you love it, then with lots of practice, it will become very rewarding. You can do it with the most basic of cameras, like the good old Pentax K-1000, the Nikon FM2, or the Canon AE1 to name a few. It's ok to make mistakes, just shoot lots of photos and see what happens. Photography is a wonderful thing, don't let your dream pass you by! :)

that's an awesome shot. taking great pictures of birds in flight is so difficult to master. they just don't keep still!
oh man, everyone with a camera, albeit digital or film, might get that photo..
