Last night was definitely one of the high points of my life. I went to the Sting Sacred Love Tour with Annie Lennox at GM Place with my best friend L. It was outstanding to say the least! Both Annie Lennox and Sting have incredible voices and they are both extremely talented musicians. I've always loved Sting's music as well as Annie Lennox, but I've never seen them live. We had excellent seats, so I was totally blown away. I so much wished I was permitted to bring my camera with me, because I could have shot some awesome photos from where we were sitting.
The stage set was really cool. Sting had these huge LCD screens behind him that were about 16 feet tall and about 6 feet wide. I've never seen such big LCD screens! There were three tall ones, and two smaller square ones that moved up and down. While he was singing, all kinds of cool visual media clips were playing on the LCDs. The lighting and sound were superb!
Annie Lennox is such a beautiful woman. She's very tall (I hadn't realized just how tall she was, because this was the first time I'd seen her perform live). My friend L. described her as a 'giant praying mantis woman'. LOL!
When she and her band performed "Walking on Broken Glass", it sounded so cool!! One of the things I noticed (being an old keyboard player myself) was that the keyboards were the original old keyboards from back in the day. I've kinda missed hearing the synthesizer sound in today's music. (Although one could argue that it may have been used a little too much by some 80's bands).
Annie can really dance and move! She's full of energy. Sting was also amazingly energetic, as he did at least 7 or 8 songs in a row before stopping even for a minute! They both had awesome backup singers as well.
After a tough week, especially for L, it was a wonderful treat.

Yay! It's the weekend!
I've been away from work for a few days this week, because I'm not feeling too great. Just needed some R&R I guess. It's been raining a lot! I guess it's that time of year, but yeah, it's depressing! I have some photos to post here from last weekend when I went downtown with Bingo and Betty.
In other news, I've finished the new website for the Trees for Life FunRun 2004 photos. You can view them here.
There were so many photos to work with that the website ended up being about 10Mb in size, which is the absolute limit on shaw webspace. I had some troubles uploading it, and I eventually had to lower the quality of the images to make them all fit. Now I'm wondering if it would have been better to pick out the best photos and just post those ones, but at a higher quality, but I also wanted as many runners as possible to be able to see their photo on line. It was a tough call.
Bingo recommended that I go rent the movie "Heater" today. It's supposed to be the best movie ever. I'm going to check it out.

Weekends always fly by...
...And before I know it, I'm back workin' for the 'Man' again. All work and no play, makes Mark a dull boy.
But anyway, I did have a good weekend. I got up really early on Saturday morning and I went out to Burnaby Lake , at about 7:00 AM, with my friend A. to shoot some sunrise photos. It was quite foggy when we arrived there, and the sun had not come over the horizon yet--it was about 5 minutes away. I set up and shot a bunch of photos of the geese and other waterfowl that were just getting ready for the day. It's interesting to watch them stretching their legs and wings while they're waiting for the sun to rise. As soon as it did rise, the geese started flapping their wings and calling out to each other, while signaling with special head nodding.
The colors of the sun in the morning mixed with the thick fog were spectacular. The light was a gold, platinum color reflecting off the water. I shot several photos of the birds in the water with a lot of bright reflection. It was hard to look into my camera because of the brightness, but it was worth it.
I posted a couple photos the other day with the birds standing in the fog, but I ran out of time for posting more. Here is one of my favorites:
I wish you all could see the image in it's original size and color. It's exciting to see the light like that.

I've been so busy, It's been a little crazy!
Wow! It's been about a week since I've updated my Blog. I've been really busy over the past week, with all kinds of tasks that need to be done. The FunRun was a blast and everything went very smoothly. The camera was great as was the lens! I shot about 400 photos and narrowed them down to about 330, which I've been working on since last Sunday. I'll probably narrow that down to about 30 or 40 images for the "TREES FOR LIFE 10K FUNRUN PHOTOBASE " website. A lot of people have requested their photos in their email. I've been able to find most of the people in the photo database, however there are a few that I missed. I think we needed one more photographer set up where I was, to capture the 5K runners coming through the finish line, because I needed to shoot the 10k runners as they passed the halfway point. It's an excellent position to shoot from , so I didn't want to miss it. But while I was shooting them, the 5k runners were already coming in, and the 2k winners as well, so I had to do a lot of running around to get the photos. Rather tricky will a lot of equipment, but it all worked out in the end.
So I've been working on that all week in the evenings after work. I had to install a second harddrive in my main computer because the primary one is completely full.
Today I got a new DVD burner installed too, which is great! Now I can make huge backup DVD's to store my image files on. Way more efficient than the CD burner.
I went out really early this morning and took some shots of geese and other birds at Burnaby Lake. It was beautiful, because it was foggy during sunrise.
